The Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Butter

Camomille cleanser

I am a fan of the Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm however this is expensive and a true luxury product, so I thought I would try The Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Butter.

First of all, this do not smell anywhere near as good as Emma Hardie, however it is less than half the price. This one is £13 for 100g. When I first opened the tin the product looked like a very firm texture for a balm, however it did melt easily in my hands to a sumptuous oil. I was amazed that it removed all of my makeup including waterproof mascara!

Definitely not a ‘princess-product’ like the Emma Hardie but much nicer than using a traditional cream cleanser! A cheaper alternative to the Emma Hardie but still effective at removing makeup!

Beautiful smelling haul!

haul august 2014

Firstly, I picked up this beautiful vest top from Oasis. It is a gorgeous grey colour (although it is showing up more lilac on camera) with a scalloped edge. This is a beautiful light-weight vest in an unusual colour which I know I will get a lot of wear out of.

I then went in to the body shop to shop for a present for my friends birthday. I did pick up a present for her but I also treated myself! I picked up the Solid Oil for Lips as recommended by FleurdeForce. This is a very oily lip balm (stating the obvious I know). It really does nourish your lips however I don’t think that a lipstick would work on top due to the oily texture. It is definitely more of a lip balm to use on its own.

In The Body Shop I also picked up their Early-Harvest Raspberry Eau De Toilette. I don’t normally wear the body shop fragrances because they are so fruity and remind me of the kind of scents I used to wear as a teenager. However, this is simply divine. It really does smell of fresh raspberries and I just can’t keep smelling it. There is something very addictive about this scent.

I did also pick up another perfume! I picked up Britney Spears Island Fantasy. It was one of the offers at the till and it was £15 for 100ml!! Bargain!!! This is definitely a summer scent. It smells like a tropical cocktail with notes of coconut and pineapple. I would’t wear this of an evening but for a day at work it is perfect!

Clinton Cards had a fantastic offer on their Yankee Candles. I picked up a couple of their large jars for presents but for myself I picked up these two votives in Pink Hibiscus scent. This is a beautiful floral scent with hints of rose. These were 50% off so i couldn’t resist even though I have way too many candles at home!

The last things I picked up were a couple of products from L’Oreal. I picked up another of their nail polishes in Pistachio Drage. This is a stunning colour as is the rest of their latest range. These are fantastic quality and seem like good value, however they work out at the similar price as OPI and NailsInc per ml. That said, the colours are gorgeous and they are always on offer. They were on offer so I also picked up an eyeshadow from the same brand. I picked up the Colour Riche L’Ombre Pure Gel-Infused Eyeshadow in Nude. This is a cream eyeshadow in a beautiful taupe colour. I haven’t tested the longevity yet but it looks promising!

Autumn Lip Essentials

Image

Blistex Relief Cream | This is definitely my number 1 winter lip essential. This cream is designed to relieve cracked lips but is also for use on cold sores. I use this when my lips are in their worst condition and have cracked. This has quite a menthol/medicinal taste but really works. A product for those days when nothing else will cut it. The only criticism I have is that due to the metal tube, it is not handbag practical. If the tube gets squished, when you open it it just keeps coming out so is a huge waste of the product.

Hawaiian Tropic Lip Gloss in Mango Papaya | This will seem like a strange product to have in an autumn post. For those of you who are not familiar with the brand, Hawaiian Tropic produce sun cream. However this lip gloss tastes so god damn good that it is an all year round essential. Plus it has spf 25 so you’re keeping your lips protected all year round!

Lanolips Lemonaid | I held off buying this product for months due to the price. It is £8.99 which seems ridiculous for a lip balm. I finally succumbed to temptation and do not feel at all guilty. This lip balm is amazing. It so so thick it really does moisturise your lips for hours after application. This would be a fantastic product for overnight moisturisation, however due to the pretty shimmer I prefer to use this during the day as I don’t normally wear lipstick.  It tastes amazing and it has a slight pretty shimmer. There’s nothing else to say. A fantastic product!

Lush Mint Juleps Lip Scrub | This is the perfect accompaniment to all the other products listed. Lush’s range of lip scrubs are made from sugar so you lick them off after scrubbing. I use this before AM and PM and follow with either Lanolips or my 8 Hour Cream. No mess and they taste amazing. My favourite is the mint juleps one which tastes like mint chocolate, however all the other flavours are divine. This gives the perfect base for applying lip balm and lip colour.

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream | This is a cult beauty product and certainly lives up to its reputation. I use this overnight to keep my lips hydrated. I have to confess that I have an awful habit of biting my lips when i’m stressed so this really helps to repair them overnight. You can also use this product on other areas such as the cuticles or patches of dry skin. Quite pricey but lasts for ages!

Soap and Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Gloss Stick in Nudist | I bought this product purely for the name but was pleasantly surprised. I don’t normally wear much colour on my lips at all so I went for the nudist shade. This is a gorgeous natural shade with an edible vanilla scent. These apply nicely and last for a few hours. An added bonus is that the packaging is handbag friendly.

Wedding Handbag Must Haves

Image

Two of my best friends are getting married this summer: one in July and one this coming weekend so I think that I have nailed the must-have products for in your bag for the big day!

The first item is a boring one, as it is RENEE. These are indigestion tablets but I feel they are a necessity for a day filled with food and drink. I suffer from IBS so I take a Renee after eating to help to ease my stomach and to stop me from bloating. They are also great for heartburn and of course indigestion. For me this is the most important handbag essential because if my stomachs uncomfortable then I’m not going to feel pretty and confident.

My second essential is of course TISSUES. I bought this cute Union Jack print pack from Boux Avenue as it compact yet pretty. Unfortunately I wont have these with me at the church as I am a bridesmaid so wont be carrying my bag into the service, however they will be very useful for the speeches and the first dance.

My next essential is my TRAVALO perfume atomiser, filled with perfume of course. I cannot rate these highly enough. They are so easy to fill and so compact. I never carry a full size bottle of perfume anywhere anymore. This is of course for freshening up throughout the day. A little spray of perfume really makes me feel fresh and confident.

Next I have my RIMMEL WAKE ME UP CONCEALER but any concealer would be fine, this just happens to be the one I am using at the moment and is in a practical stick form. I use this to disguise under eye circles and blemishes throughout the day. This and a powder is all that I require to touch up my makeup throughout the day and keep me looking fresh. Weddings can last up to 12 hours and put your makeup through a lot with dancing and crying, so having a concealer in your bag allows you to look and feel fresh in the many photos.

I also carry KLEENEX BLOTTING TISSUES. This are my favourite blotting papers as they do not have any powder on them but work so fantastically you can see the grease off your skin left on the paper. These come in a compact pack so are perfect for popping in your handbag. I use these before I powder to ensure a truly shine-free complexion.

Of course RIMMEL STAY MATTE POWDER is in my handbag. I apply this using a REAL TECHNIQUES POWDER BRUSH. This is an everyday handbag essential for me so of course it will be in my wedding handbag.

My lipstick of choice for both my girls’ weddings is REVLON LIP BUTTER IN SUGAR FROSTING. I am not particularly into lipstick so I love the concept of the Lip Butters. They are a cross between a lip balm and a lipstick. This colour is a subtle pink sheen on the lips rather than being a full coverage lipstick. Perfectly pretty but perfectly subtle for a wedding.

My final product but one of the most important is my AVENE THERMALE SPRING WATER SPRAY. I use this both to fix my makeup in the morning and to refresh my makeup throughout the day. This spray stops your makeup from looking ‘cakey’ throughout the day and makes it look like you’ve just applied your makeup.

Of course I will also have my PHONE, CREDIT CARD AND CAMERA in my handbag. The above are just my beauty essentials. Although my clutch bag for the day is a decent size I have tried to keep essentials to a minimum.
