Mascara’s of the Moment

mascaras oct 2014

I thought I would do a post on my favourite mascara’s of the moment because last week I realised that I have been happy with the way that my lashes have looked for ages and had finally settled into a collection of mascara’s that I love. My 6 favourites have a good balance between high-end and high-street!

My ultimate favourite night-out mascara is the Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes. This mascara both lengthens and volumises in one stroke. This isn’t exactly cheap at around the £20 mark but it is definitely worth it. Fantastic for a night out dancing on the tiles!

Secondly is my Lancome Hypnose Stars Mascara. This is hands down the prettiest mascara packaging I have ever seen: it’s glittery! The formula is lovely and really elongates your lashes. It is not particularly volumising but makes your lashes look lusciously long!

The last ‘high-end’ mascara in my favourite is the Clinique Bottom Lash Mascara. This has a teeny tiny brush which is perfect for getting in to the corners of your eyes. This also lasts really well and will definitely be my must-have for any wedding!

Now on to the drugstore mascara’s.

An old favourite of mine is Maybelline’s One by One. I was addicted to this years ago and then it was discontinues but relaunched last year. The brush in this is one of the hard rubber brushes and lengthens and separates your lashes. Great for day-to-day use!

Another favourite of mine is Rimmel’s ScandalEyes Flex Mascara. This mascara has a really large brush and volumises lashes but in a nice natural way. The formula isn’t too thick so lashes don’t tend to clump together too much.

My newest drugstore discovery is L’oreal’s Volume Million Lashes So Couture. This formula lengthens the lashes fantastically and the rubber brush separates lashes.

I hope that this has given mascara inspiration to all different budgets.

Beautiful natural shadow

In a previous post I showed you this product but I hadn’t really tried it so couldn’t give a true opinion. I just want to say that U only picked this up because L’Oreal had an offer on and I was buying another of their products so picked this up on a whim, but I am pleased to say that I was very pleasantly surprised.

The colour is a beautiful taupe colour called Cafe St Germain, but it is the formula that is incredible,

This is described as a gel-infused eyeshadow. I’m going to be honest I have no idea what this means and I can’t work out whether this is a cream or powder eyeshadow. The texture is so smooth and blendable like a cream eye shadow but it dries like a powder. You need to go into a store and try the tester out. For me, the best thing about this eyeshadow is the longevity. I have been wearing this for work with no primer and it has not creased at all. At the end of the day it looks like I have just applied it. Probably the best eyeshadow I have ever tried!!!

I don’t know whether L’Oreal have always been amazing but i’m having a L’Oreal revolution and am having my eyes opened to their quality. Seriously getting hooked on this brand!

NOTD L’OREAL Peach Neglige

The colour and formula of this polish is fantastic.

I have to mention the 4 colours from what I presume is their summer collection. They all have a wonderful formula and the colours are bang on trend for this summer. I can’t emphasise strongly enough just how beautiful these are so go try them for yourself!!

Beautiful smelling haul!

haul august 2014

Firstly, I picked up this beautiful vest top from Oasis. It is a gorgeous grey colour (although it is showing up more lilac on camera) with a scalloped edge. This is a beautiful light-weight vest in an unusual colour which I know I will get a lot of wear out of.

I then went in to the body shop to shop for a present for my friends birthday. I did pick up a present for her but I also treated myself! I picked up the Solid Oil for Lips as recommended by FleurdeForce. This is a very oily lip balm (stating the obvious I know). It really does nourish your lips however I don’t think that a lipstick would work on top due to the oily texture. It is definitely more of a lip balm to use on its own.

In The Body Shop I also picked up their Early-Harvest Raspberry Eau De Toilette. I don’t normally wear the body shop fragrances because they are so fruity and remind me of the kind of scents I used to wear as a teenager. However, this is simply divine. It really does smell of fresh raspberries and I just can’t keep smelling it. There is something very addictive about this scent.

I did also pick up another perfume! I picked up Britney Spears Island Fantasy. It was one of the offers at the till and it was £15 for 100ml!! Bargain!!! This is definitely a summer scent. It smells like a tropical cocktail with notes of coconut and pineapple. I would’t wear this of an evening but for a day at work it is perfect!

Clinton Cards had a fantastic offer on their Yankee Candles. I picked up a couple of their large jars for presents but for myself I picked up these two votives in Pink Hibiscus scent. This is a beautiful floral scent with hints of rose. These were 50% off so i couldn’t resist even though I have way too many candles at home!

The last things I picked up were a couple of products from L’Oreal. I picked up another of their nail polishes in Pistachio Drage. This is a stunning colour as is the rest of their latest range. These are fantastic quality and seem like good value, however they work out at the similar price as OPI and NailsInc per ml. That said, the colours are gorgeous and they are always on offer. They were on offer so I also picked up an eyeshadow from the same brand. I picked up the Colour Riche L’Ombre Pure Gel-Infused Eyeshadow in Nude. This is a cream eyeshadow in a beautiful taupe colour. I haven’t tested the longevity yet but it looks promising!

A very naughty haul!

IMG_3011_Fotor

I went a bit shopping mad this past week and ended up with this little lot!

First of all the scarf…….. I love the contrast of the grey and bright pink…….. absolutely perfect for spring! I picked this up in Primark for £4!

IMG_3004_Fotor_Collage

Next up is this beautiful nude lipstick. I have been looking for the perfect nude lip but all the ones I have tried haven’t hit the mark, whereas this colour is perfect. This is from L’Oreal Paris’ Color Riche Collection Privee in the colour Doutzen’s Nude. It is the perfect nude that is not too brown but not too pink!

IMG_3015_Fotor_Collage

Boots had 3 for 2 so I also picked up this Maybelline Colossal Go Extreme Mascara! I accidentally picked up the waterproof version and I am so disappointed with this mascara. After I had applied two coats my lashes barely looked different to having no mascara on. Maybe the non-waterproof one would be better!

IMG_3016_Fotor

The last item I picked up from Boots 3 for 2 offer was this L’Oreal Paris Lumi Magique concealer in Light. I didn’t think that this concealer had very good coverage but I like it for applying over another concealer to highlight the under-eye.

IMG_3020_Fotor_Collage

I have always wanted to try Physicians Formula but it is not normally available in the UK. However, I discovered this in TKMaxx. It was the only product they had by this brand but I am so glad that I found it. The bronzer is lovely and surprisingly it isn’t too orange for my pale skin and the blusher is a lovely coral colour. This product also has the added benefit of having a mirror and small brush underneath. I am definitely looking forward to trying more products from this brand!

IMG_3026_Fotor_Collage

I picked up some more Invisibobble hair bands. I have these in the yellow and they are amazing. They do not dent your hair and they prevent getting tight hairs when your hair is up! If you wear your hair up often then definitely check these out!

IMG_3013_Fotor

Beautybay had an extra 10% off over easter weekend so I picked up these two summer colours. The pink is from the Brazil Collection and is ‘Kiss Me I’m Brazilian’. The purple is ‘You’re such a Budapest’ from the Euro Centrale collection! These are both must have colours for spring/summer and have a fantastic formula!

IMG_3012_Fotor

Last but definitely not least, Nails Inc had an 8 piece special collection for only £20……. I couldn’t resist!

From L – R (Top) : Hay Hill, Weighhouse Street, Providence Court, Adam’s Row

From L – R (Bottom) : Palace Gate, Beaufort Street, Kensington Square, St Catherine’s Dock

There is not one colour in this collection that I am not in love with! They are all beautiful colours with fantastic formulas so keep your eyes peeled for some NOTD’s using these beauties!

A late birthday present!

My friend works in a school so we only get the chance to go for lunch during the school holidays, so I haven’t seen her since my birthday. This means I get an exciting late present off her this week! This is normally one of the most exciting presents I receive because she is a makeup junkie like me!

IMG_2994

She bought me a YSL French Manicure set and a L’Oreal Paris Glam Shine in Princess.

IMG_2992IMG_2993

The french manicure set consists of 2 nail polish pens: pink and white. The pink pen has a fluffy brush on the end and the white has a kind of pen nib end. I haven’t tried these yet because my nails are too short at the moment but I love the concept so will keep you posted as to whether they really are as easy to use as they look!

The other product she bought me is the L’Oreal Paris Glam Shine lip colour in the shade Princess. I already own two other shades in these because the formula is fantastic and rumour has it that they are the same formula as the YSL Glossy Stains! The brush is a beautiful teardrop shape that makes it really easy to apply and this shade is going to be perfect for summer! Plus, they smell amazing!
